I PREDICT A RIOT! - Placard Workshop
12-2pm + 6-8pm Tuesday 9 December @ Djibo Arts, Queensgate Centre
For the last Culture Forum of 2025 Emily Bowers is hosting a creative session alongside some great conversations, over a mince pie and a festive drink - whilst making placards which celebrate the importance of the arts.
And because we want to make sure that everyone can access this workshop, we will be running it twice - lunch time and early evening - these sessions will be hosted at Djibo Art Roots And Rise unit in the Queensgate Shopping Centre.
Each session offers space to reflect, share, connect, and to be ready to step into adventure when the time is right.
In-person sessions are a mix of social / networking time and a 60 minute facilitated session.
We want you to head into the end of the calendar year feeling uplifted and ready for those Christmas dinner conversations about why creativity is important, to you, to everyone.
Emily’s Vision:
"You’ve likely had to explain why creativity and art are important to someone sometime. Having to justify the importance of creativity in our lives, explaining why it’s valuable, especially with the current shifting landscape of funding for the arts, can be a hard conversation. You might be an absolute pro at advocating for the arts in conversation and communicating why it’s important. Or you might be more like me and you don’t always have the answer in your back pocket ready to reply at a moment's notice.
“Surely the funding would have been better spent on filling potholes?”
‘Er, well - it doesn’t quite work like that but I also don’t know how to explain it’
I want to run a positive and interactive Culture Forum session that brings us together as a collective. Let’s conjure up our response to those conversations. And we'll transform what arises into protest placards in support of the arts — all whilst enjoying an optional festive mince pie!"
How To Find Us
