Our Story

Jumped Up has been producing events around the UK since 1993, bringing touring and homegrown productions and events into a variety of community spaces, including: pubs, churches, community gardens, museums, front-rooms and theatres.

Our audience is at the heart of our work. Our events, performances and opportunities strive to inspire, engage, and empower the communities we work with. We want to create positive change for communities through access to the arts.

We have a base at Peterborough City Library, but we pop up all over Peterborough, from Queensgate Shopping Centre to The Green Backyard, from Brewery Tap to the Pyramid Centre in Bretton. Get in touch at talk@jumpeduptheatre.com, or keep up-to-date by signing up for our newsletter here.

We have been commissioned by Peterborough Presents CPP, Nottingham Playhouse, and Ipswich’s Pulse Festival. We have also given scratch presentations at The Junction in Cambridge as part of the Troop programme.

During our partnership with Battersea Arts Centre, we have created Platform8 (Festivals of Theatre for Peterborough) which ran from 2016-2019 as part of the Collaborative Touring Network. In 2021 we started a new, three-year programme with the Collaborative Touring Network, with Battersea Arts Centre and five other partners, led by Old Courts, Wigan.

Our Team:

Jumped Up is managed by our Creative Producer, Kate Hall, alongside Assistant Producer Emily Steele, Marketing Officer Tim Keogh and a network of Associate Artists. The team works with our Board of Trustees to deliver exciting and relevant programmes with our communities and for our audience. Jumped Up Theatre also has a rich history of working with communities in and around Peterborough to create work that inspires and engages local people. Meet the Jumped Up Team here.

Our Goals:

We are committed to bringing work to Peterborough that fits the needs of the city and all of the people that live here. We want to do this by working alongside community groups, artists who are curious about our audiences and their stories, activists who want to make change happen, and anyone else who shares in our passion for creating.

If you have an idea for a project, want to work with us or to commission us, you can get in touch with us via our Contact Page. We can’t wait to hear from you!
