What is Cypher?

Cypher is a series of 4 paid sessions of shared creative practise and experimentation for 5 local poets and 5 local dancers aged 16+ in a generous and open environment.

The sessions will feature a blend of dance and writing exercises, with the purpose of encouraging collaboration between the mediums.

Themes and Areas of Exploration:

Led by artists Charley Genever and Sonny Nwachukwu, Cypher will explore the making of art in challenging times; looking at ideas of where we are right now, if we are facing a crossroads, and what directions can be taken? Artists will be encouraged to evaluate such themes from the perspective of their city and the wider world, as well as on a personal level.

Apply To Take Part

We are looking for 5 poets and 5 dancers to take part in these sessions. This is a paid opportunity, with chosen artists to receive £350 for their participation.

For your application:

We want to know a little bit about you and your practise, as well as how to contact you. Please check the dates of the sessions and make sure you can attend them all.

The deadline for applications is 5:00pm on 22 July 2024.
